The scenarios in this book highlight the grimy underbelly of Victorian London.

The first, Ashes to Ashes, works well for novice Keepers and players, while Signs Writ in Scarlet provides a deeper and more widespread mystery to challenge experienced players. Ashes to Ashes is a one-shot scenario suited to three to six players and can be played in one or two sessions.

While set in London, it may be relocated to any large town or city in Victorian Britain. The investigators are assumed to be working-class employees at Lange’s Dust Yard, a disposal centre for the city’s trash, although a broader range of investigators is possible.

Signs Writ in Scarlet is a deadly sandbox-style scenario sand ideally suited for experienced Keepers. Set in London’s East End, it may take several sessions of play for up to six investigators, who may come from a variety of social class backgrounds.

Ten pre-generated investigators are included, specially designed to be used in these scenarios.
