Pre-ordering at Dungeonland.

Pre-order items are items that are set for a future release and not available right now to ship. Dungeonland offers a pre-order service on selected titles and pre-order items will appear differently on our website than our in stock items to advise you where this will be. The item example below shown on the left is in stock as it says 'Buy Now' and so is ready to ship. The item on the right is a pre-order, marked by the orange pre-order banner in its corner and the 'Buy Now' button is not present and has been replaced with a button marked as 'pre-order' instead. When you click on the pre-order item the same orange banner will appear again underneath the item price to remind you this is a pre-order item and it will continue to show as you proceed through our checkout.

Preorder terms

Pre-orders for items can be placed as follows below, but first, we ask that all customers consider our golden rule:

Please do not place pre-orders for items intended as gifts for others because if the shipment is later than expected it may cause disappointment.

To start your pre-order:

  • Add the pre-order item you would like to your basket and proceed to the checkout. You may add other items too, but bear in mind that if you combine in stock items with pre-order items, or mix multiple pre-order items, none of your items will ship until all of your items are in stock.
  • Click the basket icon to proceed through our checkout. You will be asked to tick a box to confirm you have read our pre-order terms at this stage before it will let you proceed through the checkout. In doing so, you agree to and accept the terms on this page. For this reason, we strongly advise reading the content on this page and ensure you are happy with it before proceeding. You can click the pre-order link underlined in red below to view this page.

Continue placing your pre-order as follows:

  • Click to continue and enter your address on the next page before you reach the shipping page. If you only have pre-order items in your basket you will be advised on the shipping page that none of your items are in stock at this point and to ensure you have read the pre-order terms. If your basket has mixed product in it, both pre-order items and in stock items, you will be advised here that your in stock items will not ship until your pre-order items are in stock. It will be recommended to you that you split the order if you wish to have your in stock items shipped now. The example image below shows you where this is displayed to you during our checkout.

You will now be able to complete the payment on your pre-order. Whichever payment option you choose, your payment is taken immediately when you complete the checkout process for your pre-order.

Some things to note:

  • We do not offer a shipping date or any interim updates on pre-order items because we do not receive them. What we will do is ship your item as soon as we receive it but we won't be able to tell you when that will be until it actually is due to arrive with us. We typically receive only a few days notice of when an item is shipping to us. Bear this in mind, because if you later ask us when your item is coming, we probably won't be able to tell you.
  • Your pre-order is refundable at any time though we do charge a 10% cancellation fee to cover our transaction processing fees which are unrecoverable. If a PDF is included this may also affect your refund amount (see our refund terms).
  • Remember that if you combine your item with other items then nothing will ship until all items in the order are in stock. You were reminded of this during check out. If you wish to split an order at a later date you can do so but it will incur additional postage costs.
  • The price of the item may fluctuate up or down after your order is placed. This is generally due to moving exchange rates or the variation in different prices at different suppliers that the product might come from. If the price goes up we'll honour your original price paid with the only exception being if there is a supplier pricing error and the difference is significantly more. If the price goes down, you can make a request for a credit from us for the difference for up to three days after your order has shipped.

We like to keep a friendly relationship with our customers so consider carefully all of the above when placing your pre-order. Dungeonland reserves the right to amend these terms at any time it so chooses.

Why can't you tell me when my item will arrive?

If the item in question in published by Wizards of the Coast, for example Dungeons & Dragons, then an official street date will be available for your item. You can contact us to ask this or simply visit their website. We do not receive release date information for items from other publishers.

So, what can we tell you?

Unfortunately, we probably can't advise you anything except to contact the publisher direct. Most items we sell are produced outside the UK. The publisher may offer a local release date for the country they are based in. You'll then have factor in a few steps, starting with when the distributor of the product might place their order with the publisher. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing when the distributor will actually place their order. They will first need to build enough orders from retailers to order the stock. Once that happens, you'll need to factor in how long the freight time might be, and how long UK customs may spend processing the shipment for clearance. After that, you can expect to see your item in the UK with us. Unfortunately neither ourselves nor the publisher will be able to advise on how long those factors may take.

For these reasons we don't display any shipping dates on the website. We don't have them. And if pressed for information we can only speculate which may lead to disappointment later. After you place a pre-order for a product, Dungeonland does not provide any updates in the lead up to it shipping. The only update we will provide is once the item is in stock and ready to ship and this will be automated by the website.

I've seen the product elsewhere on sale?

Many companies today get their games financed on crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter. When the product is complete and ready to ship a publisher will ship to its Kickstarter backers first which may include members of the public or retailers (either may often back a product). This means you may see product available in places or in hand with people before the item has actually shipped out to distributors that will forward supply on to retailers. Only once a Kickstarter has finished being shipped to its backers will a publisher begin the process of shipping out to distributors and eventually retail. Fulfilment of a Kickstarter can take months depending on the popularity of the product. It should be noted that Dungeonland does not back Kickstarter projects. Kickstarter's require payment in advance, sometimes years in advance of a product shipping. That can tie up funds for long periods. Our funds have to be working for us, bringing in stock we can sell. For this reason, we only purchase direct from the publisher or their distributor.

There are multiple distributors around the UK and EU that Dungeonland will use and each distributor may frequently receive the same stock at very different times. This again, is down to when they place their order and how the freight and customs clearance times work out. For this reason, you will see stores like ourselves with new product at different times to each other. There will be times when Dungeonland is first to receive stock, there will be times when Dungeonland is not first and stock arrives later, and you may have to wait a little longer. This is unfortunately out of our control.

How to get a notification of stock for an out of stock item.

Follow this step-by-step guide to get the latest updates on when out of stock titles arrive at Dungeonland.

  • Visit the category that interests you. Then click the Sort By text (right) to list items that have just been added first.
  • Choose the item we are 'Sold Out' for that you would like and click on it.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the item listing and you'll see a box that says - "Get notified by email when this product becomes available"
  • Enter your e-mail address and click the "Notify Me" button.

Job done! When the item arrives in to stock with us you will now get an e-mail notification. And that e-mail will come to you immediately after we have updated the listing to show as in stock so you can buy right away. Add this to as many products as there are that interest you. There is no cost and no limit.

Please note that adding a notification on to a forthcoming item does not reserve one for you. It just means you will be updated by e-mail once we have stock available. Having a notification set up gives you a heads up advantage to get their first.

This feature is not available for items that are listed as being on pre-order.

What If I have a pre-order with you from before May 2023?

Our old pre-order system was discontinued on the 14th May 2023. If you still have a pre-order with us from before that date, it is still valid and we will proceed to supply you the item as soon as it is available. Nothing has changed about your pre-order and it stands in place exactly as it always has. You can check your order history by signing in to your account.

If you would like to contact us about your pre-order you can do so by visiting the contact us section of our website. We know some pre-orders can take a while to come through and we thank you for your patience in the meantime. If you would like to cancel your pre-order please contact us and we will initiate a refund where possible. Please note, that if the pre-order goes back a long time it might not still be refundable through our payment processor. In this case, we will arrange a credit for you to spend in store.
