Grimtooth’s Old School Traps is an homage to the classic books Grimtooth’s Traps and Traps Too. This 150+ page hardcover book includes 150+ curated traps, presented with DCC RPG rules for the first time. In addition, you find essays from industry luminaries, recounting the impacts of these traps (on both characters, and the game industry) over the decades.

The original Grimtooth’s books

The original Grimtooth’s Traps books were a series of system-neutral role-playing game supplements published by Flying Buffalo beginning in 1981. Edited by Paul Ryan O’Connor and illustrated by Steve Crompton , they presented hundreds of elaborate, often lethal dungeon traps narrated by the fictional troll Grimtooth.

Rather than providing game statistics, the books described traps in a system-agnostic way so game masters could adapt them to any fantasy RPG. The traps ranged from clever puzzles and mechanical hazards to outrageously unfair deathtraps, often written with a dark sense of humor and a tongue-in-cheek attitude toward adversarial dungeon design.
